Abel Pann is a well respected artist in Judaica and Biblical illustration. He is known for his powerful use of lithography and for his drawings. He was born 1883 in Latvia and as a youth he lived in various parts of Eastern Europe. By 1903 he had emigrated to Paris to be a part of the great art scene of that era and this is where he first became known. He eventually settled in Israel after WWI and became a prominent figure in Israeli art. His best known work are his magnificent Biblical illustrations. He also produced some very powerful images detailing Jewish life and oppression in Eastern Europe under the Czar. Abel Pann died in 1963.
