  1. "A New Map of Italy From the Latest Observations", by John Senex, 1733, $150. Paper size is approx. 7 1/2" x 9". Shows numerous cities and towns and includes Corsica, Sardinia, and part of Sicily. Condition: Light agetoning and offsetting, folds as issued, otherwise very good.

  2. "Italy, Designed for the Works of Tacitus, by Robert de Vaugondy, Royal Geographer and Fellow of the Royal Academy at Nantz" 1813, $75. Paper size is approx. 10" x 10" . A great historical map. Tacitus was a famous Roman historian who lived in the 1st Century A.D. Map shows all of Italy, Sardinia, Corsica, and Sicily. Folds as issued, overall agetoned with offsetting, but a good impression of this map.

  3. "Ancient Italy" , 1846 , Engraving by W & R Chambers , $125. 1846 . Engraving with outline color, 9" x 11 1/2". A very detailed map showing all of Italy, Sardinia, Corsica, & Sicily in ancient times. Condition: Light agetoning, otherwise very good. Note: Scan does not show full margins.

  4. "Northern & Middle Italy" , 1808, Published by C. Smith, $145. 12 1/2" x 15 1/2", Hand colored engraving. A very nice map on a large scale. Divides Northern Italy into the Kingdom of Italy, Tuscany, and States of the Church. Also shows much of the Adriatic and the Dalmation Coast including the Illyric Isles. Condition: Some agetoning, several spots along edges of map, otherwise very good.


  5. "Italy" , 1846 , Engraving by W & R Chambers , $125. 1846 . Engraving with outline color, 9" x 11 1/2". Shows all of Italy, Sardinia, Corsica, & Sicily. Italy is divided in the North into Sardinian States, Venetian Lombardy, Parma, Modena,Tuscany, and States of the Church. All of southern Italy is part of Naples. Condition: Light agetoning, otherwise very good. Note: Scan does not show full margins.

  6. Italy - Large Map "Venetian States", by N. R. Hewitt for Thomson's Atlas, 1816, $225. Paper size is approx. 21" x 28 1/2" . Hand colored engraving. This map shows the area to the north of Lombardy and the States of the Church. The city of Venice is shown in the midst of the "Lagunes of Venice" (also labelled "The Dogado"). The surrounding states are depicted in great detail and include, Padova, Verona, Vicentino, Trevigiano, Friuli, Bellune, and Cadore. All major cities, roads, canals, and rivers are shown, as is the Gulf of Venice and the Gulf of Trieste. Condition: Paper is in good shape with centerfold as issued, light overall soiling, short tear in lower margin just extending to neat line, upper left and right corner have some dampstaining that is heavy at edges of margins but fairly light as it extends across upper corners of map, some remnants of old tape hinges at edge of paper, otherwise a very impressive map.

  7. "Italy, North Part" 1850, by Thomas Cowperthwait, published by Mitchell, $95. Hand Colored engraving with ornate border, 13 1/2" x 17" with image size 10 1/2" x 12 1/2". A lovely map of northern Italy showing a united Kingdom of Lombardy and Venice, and a very large "State of the Church". Map extends as far south as Naples and also shows Corsica. Condition: Some agetoning, coloring in Tuscany is browned, otherwise good. Note: Scan does not show full margins.

  8. Two Maps on One Sheet "Northern Italy & Southern Italy" , 1862, Hand Colored Engraving by Johnson and Ward , $145. 18" x 27" . A very decorative map with ornate border showing all of Italy. This plate divides Italy into two sections and gives a large scale detailed rendition of each. In the upper half is "Northern Italy" showing part of the Kingdom of Naples, part of the States of the Church, and the area northward to Venice and Switzerland. Also includes the Island of Corsica and the Adriatic as far as Croatia. In the lower half is "Southern Italy" which has most of the Kingdom of Naples , a nice rendition of Sicily, the Island of Sardinia, and an inset of Malta. Condition: Centerfold as issued, some spotting and handling along edges and a few very minor spots in map, otherwise very good.

  9. "Italy, North Part" , 1854, Hand Colored Engraving by S.Hall , $95. Published by A & C Black. 12" x 17" . A very nice map showing political subdivisions, numerous cities, towns, rivers, and roads. Map shows the area from Nice to the Gulf of Gaeta (including Corsica) on the West coast and from Lombardy and the Gulf of Trieste to the Gulf of Manfredonia (roughly Barletta) on the Adriatic Coast. The major states delineated in the region are Sardinian States, Austrian Lombardy, Parma, Modena, Tuscany, States of the Church, and Naples. There is also an inset of the Environs of Rome. Condition:Agetoning along edges, some minor, light foxing. Note: Scan does not show full margins.

  10. "Southern Italy" , ca 1860, Outline Colored Engraving by J. Rapkin, Published by John Tallis , $175. 10 1/2" x 14 1/2" . A lovely map with ornate border and vignettes showing Italy south of the Papal States and including nice images of Sicily, Sardinia, and Corsica. All of Southern Italy is designated as Naples. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning along edges, a smudge at edge of map near the Gulf of Venice and a small smudge in the Gulf of Saranto, otherwise very good. Note: Scan does not show full margins.

  11. Classical Map of Northern Italy "Gallia Cisalpina cum Regionibus Adjacentibus" ; Engraved by J. Lowry, published by J. Mawman, 1825, $75. 10 1/2" x 16 1/2" (approx). A detailed classical map of Northern Italy, showing the area from the Alps southward to 44° N. Lat. (roughly Rimini on the Adriatic coast). Also includes a large inset of the area around Rome. This map is part of a three sheet set -- the other two are below. Condition: Centerfold as issued, scattered foxing, otherwise good.

  12. Classical Map of Central Italy "Italia Media vel Italie Propre Pars Borealis - Ante Divisionem ab Augusto Factum" ; Engraved by J. Lowry, published by J. Mawman, 1824, $75. 10 1/2" x 16 1/2" (approx). A detailed classical map of Central Italy, showing the area from 44° N. Lat to 41° N. Lat. (roughly Rimini to Bari on the Adriatic coast and La Spezia to Gaeta on the Tyrrheenian Coast). This map is part of a three sheet set -- see above and below. Condition: Centerfold as issued, scattered foxing, otherwise good.


  13. Classical Map of Southern Italy "Italia Pars Meridionalis vel Grecia Magna" ; Engraved by J. Lowry, Ca. 1824, $75. 10 1/2" x 16 1/2" (approx). A detailed classical map of Southern Italy, showing the area south of 41° N. Lat. Map also has a large detail of Sicily and another detail of classical Syracuse ("Veterum Syracusarum Typus"). This map is part of a three sheet set -- see above. Condition: Centerfold as issued, overall foxing, otherwise good.

  14. "Roma Antiqua" , Published by Baldwin & Cradock 1836. $55 Engraving, 8 1/2" x 10 1/2" A detailed map of Rome annotating major sites. Also has an "Index Regionum". Condition: Slight agetoning, otherwise very good.

  15. "Map of Ancient Rome" & "Map of the Vicinity of Ancient Rome." $30 Published 1856. Hand Colored Engraving, 5" x 8" Two maps on one sheet with text on verso. Very nicely engraved. Condition: Small tear at upper left corner of margin, some browning on lower map, otherwise very good.

  16. "Florence" 1889, Wagner & Debes, $35 Very detailed map of Florence including major landmarks. Marked on bottom "Geograph. Anstalt von Wagner & Debes, Leipzig". Size: 11.5" x 12". Condition: Very good condition; folds as issued; trimmed close to neatline on right side as originally issued.
