  1. "Landing of Columbus." $35 , 1868, Color Lithograph. Annotated "J. Sinclair's, Lith. Phila". Paper size is 5 1/2" x 9", Plate size is 4" x 7". Condition: Overall very good.


  2. "1858 Chart of National Flags $40 , A large hand colored lithograph published in 1858. Flags shown are from the United States, Russia, Imperial Russia, Japan, Tuscany, Denmark, Egypt, Cochin China, and many others. Size: 19.5" x 22.5". Folds as issued. Condition: Overall very good though there is some age toning; some light water stains; some separations at folds and one tear which runs into image that has been repaired.

  3. Portrait "General Robert E. Lee" SOLD, Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. paper size is 11 1/2" x 16 1/2". Portrait is approx. 9" x 12" with a brief biography printed below. This sheet also has images on verso -- one of the Indiana Zouaves and one of the ordnance armory in Charleston, SC. Overall very good condition.

  4. "Lincoln At Home" SOLD, 19th Century, Annotated "Engraved by J.C. McRae". Size is 5 1/2" x 9", Condition: A nice clear impression. Some dampstaining across lower margin and partly into image, some light browning in other margins. Scan has moire patterns (created by our scanner) which are not in image.




  5. "Contrabands Coming Into Fortress Monroe" 19th Century Wood Engraving $25, Annotated "Adrian-Probasco" Paper size is 5 1/2" x 9", Plate size is 4 1/4" x 6 1/4". Condition: Some dampstaining in margins, light type offsetting, otherwise very good.

  6. "Firing a Gun in an Old Casemate Fort" R.F. Zogbaum/ Harpers Weekly $50, Wood Engraving, 16 1/4" x 22 3/4", April 2, 1887. Beautiful engraving, some aging and small binding holes on original centerfold.

  8. "Original 1861 Mammoth Newspaper" 10 Pages from Leslie's "Pictorial History of the War of 1861 - The Bombardment of Fort Sumter, Charleston, SC $85, These pages are from Leslie's "Pictorial History of the War of 1861". From a description of the Leslie's publication: "This work is published in semi-monthly numbers, its MAMMOTH SIZE allows of the largest Engravings and it contains a Complete Epitome of the War in which the Country is involved, with all the Facts, Scenes, Incidents and Anecdotes connected with it, arranged Chronologically, forming a Contemporary and Permanent History of the Time. All Official and Important Documents, emanating North or South, appear in full, with complete and authentic Accounts and Illustrations of all the striking Incidents of the War, together with the Portraits of leading Officers and Statesman, Plans and Views of Fortifications, Maps, &C, &C

    This paper has extensive text describing the events of the bombardment and a map & engraved illustrations including the following: * huge engraving The Bombardment of Fort Sumter, Charleston Harbor, the 12th & 13th of April 1861 (34" x 23"). * Guard of Boats on Charleston Bar during the first night of the Bombardment of Fort Sumpter (7" x 14"), * Map - Plan of Operations in Charleston Harbour (5.75" x 9"); * engraving of General View of the harbor and city of Charleston, SC (6" X 21"); * engraving Castle Pinckney, Charleston Harbor (7" x 23"); * engraving Batteries of Morris Island before the Bombardment of Fort Sumpter (9" x 16"); * In addition there are a number of other engravings.
    SIZE: 17" x 23"; 10 pages-3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 (both the beginning and ending pages of the newspaper are missing - only 1/2 of pages 13/14 are present) . Condition: pages are age toned; pages have ragged edges with paper loss; there are tears on some pages which extend as much as 1.5" into the paper.

Civil War " Grand Review in Washington of Eight Batteries of Artillery and Three Regiments of Cavalry by President Lincoln, General McClellan, and a Portion of the Cabinet, September 24th, 1861" $30, Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. Paper size is 16 1/2" x 23". This is a large scale image with Lincoln & McClellan on horseback at the center reviewing this tremendous parade of over two thousand troops. There is text below the image describing the events of the day. Condition: Centerfolded as issued , some agetoning, otherwise very good. Picture is partial scan of image.

Civil War "Battle of Chancellorsville, Sunday May 3, 1863. - General Hooker Repulsing the Attack of the Enemy" $30, Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. Paper size is 16 1/2" x 23". This is a very dramatic and large scale image showing Stuart's charge on Hookers forces. There is text below the image describing the battle. Condition: Centerfolded as issued , otherwise very good. Picture is partial scan of image.

  11. Civil War " Delaware Indians Acting as Scouts for the Federal Army in the West" $30, Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. Paper size is 11 1/2" x 16 1/2". An unusual subject. Has text below. Condition: Very good.

  12. "Charge of Col. Platt's Mounted Zouaves... Devil's Pass, West Virginia" Pictorial Battles of the Civil War $65, Wood Engraving, 17 1/4" x 24", Circa 1895. Nice cavalry charge print of this December 1861 battle. Sketched by J. F. E Hillen. Very good condition

  13. "Storming of Fort Donelson" $35, 19th Cenrury, Annotated "Engraved by Samuel Sartain" and "Drawn by F.B. Schell". paper size is 5 1/2" x 9", Plate size is 4 1/4" x 6 1/4". Condition: A nice clear impression. Some dampstaining at upper right of margin just across corner of image, light type offsetting, otherwise very good.

  14. Civil War "Siege of Yorktown" $35, 19th Century, Annotated "Engraved by Samuel Sartain" and "Drawn by F.B. Schell". Paper size is 5 1/2" x 9", Plate size is 4" x 6 1/2". Is that a hot air balloon in the sky? Condition: A nice clear impression. A few smudges in margins, otherwise very good.

  15. Civil War "Presentation of Colors to the Twentieth United States Colored Infantry, Colonel Bartram, at the Union League Clubhouse, New York, March 5th, 1864" $30, Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. There are additional Civil War images on verso. Paper size is 11 1/2" x 16 1/2" There is text below the image describing the events of the day. One excerpt, "A vast crowd of citizens, of every shade of color and every phase of social and political life, filled the square and streets, and every doorway, window, tree, veranda, and housetop that commanded a view of the scene was peopled with spectators...." Very good condition. NOTE: Moire patterns in sky were caused by our scanner and are not present.

  17. Civil War "First and Last Review of the First Regiment South Carolina Negro Volunteers, On Hilton Head, S.C. Under Colonel Fessenden, U.S.A. June 25, 1862" $30, Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. paper size is 11 1/2" x 16 1/2". An unusual subject. Shows the men at various drill exercises. There is text below describing the scene. One excerpt: "I witnessed the parade entire, .... and I must acknowledge my complete surprise at the discipline and even vim evinced by the sable crowd..." . Picture shown is a partial scan.

"Destruction of the Famous Confederate Privateer, 'Nashville' in the Ogeechee River, Ga. by the Federal Ironclad 'Montauk,' Captain Worden, February 28th, 1863" Sold , Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. There are additional Civil War images on verso. Paper size is 11 1/2" x 16 1/2" There is text below the image describing the events of the day and quoting from Captain Worden's report. Condition: Light agetoning, otherwise very good. Note: Wavyness in image and moire patterns in sky are due to scanner.

  19. Civil War "The Railroad Battery Protecting Workmen on the Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Baltimore and Ohio Railroad" $30, Wood engraving from one of the historical reviews of the Civil War published in the 1890's. appx.11" x 16". An unusual print of a railroad battery built of half inch boiler iron, and containing fifty rifle holes and a pivotted 24 pound cannon. On the reverse there are two small civil war naval illustrations. Condition: Light agetoning, otherwise very good. Note: Wavyness in image and moire patterns in sky are due to scanner. (Our scanner does not seem to like the line work in this engraving.)

  20. "Bombardment of Fredericksburg, Va., by the Army of the Potomac, Commanded by General Burnside, Thursday, December 11th, 1862" $55 , This is a double page wood engraving from one of the reviews of the Civil War that was published in the 1890's. Size is 16 1/2" x 23" . Text below the image recounts the bombardment and describes the effect of 179 guns firing on the city. Note: Picture shown is only a partial scan and shows roughly the center of the image. Condition: Centerfold as issued with light toning on fold and at edges, otherwise very good

  21. "The Attack on Fredericksburg" $35 , annotated "Drawn by C.Schussele" and "Engraved by Samuel Sartain". Image size 4" x 6 1/4", Paper size 7" x 10". Some light dampstaining at edge of paper (not near image) and agetoning, otherwise very good condition. Engraving is an excellent impression with crisp image.

A nice group of vignettes including Indians performing war dance for troops. There is text below the image describing the scenes. Condition: Very good. Note: Picture shown has moire patterns that were caused by scanner - actual image is sharp.

  30. "Stonewall Jackson Article & Game" $15 , Strategy & Tactics Magazine featured an extensive article on Stonewall Jackson as well as a "Stonewall" strategy game in their March/April 1978 issue. This item includes the magazine, the full color paper game board (appx. 22 x 32) and the cardboard game pieces. Condition: magazine cover is a little soiled and some corners are a little dog-eared. Game board is in very good condition and all game pieces are present.
