  1. "A New Map of Europe From the Latest Observations", by John Senex, 1733, $95. Paper size is approx. 7 1/2" x 9". An overall view of Europe showing major political subdivisions. Extends from the Caspian to Iceland (labelled "Island"). Condition: Light agetoning and offsetting, folds as issued, a fairly light impression otherwise very good.


  2. "Europe in 12 sheets, Shewing Its Present Political Divisions" Engraved by J. Lowry; published by J. Mawman; 1828; $275 A wonderful set of 12 adjoining plates, each plate approximately 10" x 16", that assemble into a huge map measuring approximately 40" x 48". These plates cover a massive area -- roughly Northern Africa to Northeastern Russia with much in between. The scale is 1" = 60 miles, so there is tremendous detail. We have provided two photos of the plates assembled together, plus a few scans of details. The details include a scan of part of the Austrian Empire, including Transylvania and Walachia;   a scan of the Georgia and the Caucasus in Southern Russia. These will give you a pretty good idea of the detail in these plates. Let us know if you need scans of specific areas. Information on these maps, includes towns, cities, roads, rivers, and topographical details. There are also various interesting insets, including insets of Spitzbergen, Shetland Isles, Iceland, Isle of Man, and Isle of Wight. Plates have varying degrees of brownspotting, ranging from what you can see in the scans below, to a several that have denser areas of spotting.   3. Azores "Isles Acores", ca. 1788, Bonne, $125. Paper size is approx. 11 1/2" x 17". Very detailed. Shows coastlines of each island, ports, villages, and topographical relief. Four different distance scales are provided. A few light spots, folds as issued, very light dampstain at edge of right margin (more than an inch from image area).

  4. Black Sea - Mouths of the Danube "Mappa D'Avviso Delle Bocche Del Danubio" alla scala di 1 a 208,000. ", $45 1858. Unknown Italian map maker, but map is annotated "Torino, 1858". Size 23 1/2" x 32 1/2" . A detailed and large map of the eastern end of the Danube River. Particulary shows the many branches that empty into the Black Sea. City names are obscure but co-relate to some modern places. The westernmost town is "Galadsch". and the easternmost towns where the Danube meets the Black Sea are Kilia, Soulina, S. Giorgio and Lago Razina. Click for a detail of the area near Kilia at the northeastern corner of the map. Condition: Folds as issued, some offsetting and browning, a few small (insect?) holes, Otherwise very good.

  5. "Holland" , 1854, Hand Colored Engraving by S.Hall , $125. Published by A & C Black. 12" x 17" . A very nice map showing the political subdivisions, numerous cities, towns, rivers, and roads from northern Belgium to the islands off of Groningen. Condition: Light handling, otherwise very good.

  6. "Holland" Drawn & Engraved by John Dower, $75. circa 1840's, 9" x 11", hand colored in outline. Shows political subdivisions and numerous cities, towns, rivers, and topography. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning, otherwise good.

  7. "The Seven United Provinces from the best Authorities" by Guthrie, 1795, $95. , 8" x 10" .   A detailed map showing provinces, cities, rivers, and more. Includes a small inset of Dutch Limburg at lower right. Condition: Folds as issued, some offsetting, a few spots, otherwise good.

  8. "Netherlands, now divided into Holland and Belgium" by S. Hall, 1854, $110. Size: 12" x 17" (approx). Hand colored engraving published by A & C Black. Fairly detailed and well executed map. Condition: Agetoned at edges, a few spots, otherwise very good. Full margins not shown on scan.

  9. "Holland" , ca 1860, Outline Colored Engraving by J. Rapkin, Published by John Tallis , $150. 10 1/2" x 14 1/2" . A lovely map with ornate border and vignettes. Vignettes include a large view of Rotterdam, a vignette "On the Dort" and "Dutch Peasants". Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning and several spots along edge of right margin, dampstains across upper and lower right corners (do not cross borders), otherwise good.

  10. Holland and Belgium "Netherlands or Northern Part of France" , 1808, Published by C. Smith, $145. 12 1/2" x 15 1/2", Hand colored engraving. A very nice map on a large scale showing the Netherlands as separate from Dutch Brabant, and Dutch Flanders. This includes the area of modern Belgium. This map also shows part of Northern France including Artois, Picardy, Normandy, and parts of other Departments. Map also shows the Straits of Dover and Southeastern England. Condition: Some agetoning, several spots along edges of map, otherwise very good.

  11. Netherlands "Netherlands now divided into Holland & Belgium" $35. Circa 1856. 4 1/2" x 7 1/2". A nice little map of this area. The various provinces are all delineated with delicate hand coloring. Condition: Very Good.

  12. "Holland & Belgium", 1850, by Thomas Cowperthwait, $150, 14" x 18" (approx). Hand colored engraving with ornate border. A detailed map of this area showing the railroad lines, canals, capitals, and important towns. Condition: Minor spotting, mottled agetoning, some offsetting in margins and some old pencil lines at left side of map. Note: Full borders and margins are not shown in scan.

  13. "Holland & Belgium", 1855, by J.H. Colton, $150, 14" x 18" (approx). Hand colored engraving with ornate border. A detailed map of this area showing the railroad lines, common roads, canals, capitals of provinces and kingdoms, villages, and battlefields. Includes insets of Amsterdam and of Brussels. Condition: Agetoned with a few smudges at edges of margins, otherwise very good. Note: Full borders and margins are not shown in scan.

  14. "Belgium" Drawn & engraved by John Dower, $85. circa 1840's, 9" x 11", hand colored in outline. Shows political subdivisions and numerous cities, towns, rivers, and topography. Major divisions include Luxemburg, Liege, Namur, Brabant, Antwerp, Flanders, Hainault, and Limburg. There is an annotation that explains that the parts of Limburg and of Luxemburg that are outlined were ceded to Holland in 1839. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning, a few minor spots, one small chip in lower margin at right edge.

  15. "Belgium" , ca 1860, Outline Colored Engraving by J. Rapkin, Published by John Tallis , $175. 10 1/2" x 14 1/2" . A lovely map with ornate border and vignettes. Vignettes include views of Antwerp Cathedral, Plains of Waterloo and the Altar of St. Gudule, Brussels. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning and a few spots along edges of margins, otherwise good.

  16. "Brussels" , ca 1860, Engraving by J. Rapkin, Published by John Tallis , $175. 10 1/2" x 14 1/2" . A great street plan of Brussels with ornate border and vignettes. Each street and the most important buildings are identified. Vignettes include views of the Palace Royale, Hotel de Ville, Church of St. Gudule, and other views. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning and a few spots and smudges in margins, otherwise good.

  17. North Sea to the Gulf of Bothnia "Newest Chart of the Baltic" by Schenk and McFarlane, $150 , Published by A & C Black, 1854, handcolored engraving. 19 1/2" x 24 1/2" . A large scale detailed map of the seas and coasts across northern Europe illustrated with numerous inset details. Insets include a wonderful plan of Cronstadt which annotates its principal fortifications; a large inset showing an enlargement of the coast from Hangohead to Sveaburg (modern Vyborg, in the Gulf Finland, on the route to St Petersburg) ; an inset of Riga; an inset of Svealand; an inset of "Port Baltic"; and an inset "chart of Reval". Condition: Folds as issued, agetoned with spotting and foxing, reinforced 3" tear starting at intersection of folds at bottom center of map (this is in the inset of Port Baltic and slightly into the inset of Svealand). Scan does not show full margins or title in upper margin.

  18. "Sweden & Norway" Drawn & engraved by John Dower, $85. circa 1840's, 9" x 11", hand colored in outline. Shows political subdivisions and numerous cities, towns, rivers, and topography. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning, otherwise good.

  19. "The Northern Provinces of Sweden and Norway with part of Russia" 1834, Baldwin & Cradock, $85. "Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge". Engraving with outline color, 13 1/2" x 16 1/2" . A detailed map of most of Sweden and Norway (from 59 deg. North Latitude northward) showing coastal details, towns, cities, and topography. An interesting annotation at the North Cape of Sweden notes "Mageroe, 387 yds high: the line of perpetual congelation is here 364 yds above sea level". All of the territory to the east of Sweden & Norway (including Finland)is marked as part of Russia. Condition: A few small spots, light offsetting, otherwise very good. Note: Scan does not show margins or borders.

  20. "Sweden,Norway, Denmark" 1841, J. & C. Walker, $85. "Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge". Engraving with outline color, 13 1/2" x 16 1/2" . A detailed map of Sweden and Norway showing coastal details, towns, cities, and topography. Part of Finland is also shown. Condition: Some roughness and agetoning at edges, otherwise very good. Lovely large scale mid 19th Century map of this region. Delineates provinces, towns and villages, capitals, roads, railroads, and rivers. Also shows Finland, northern Germany, and Poland. At upper left is a view of Stockhlm. At lower right is a view of Cologne. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoned at edges, reinforced split on fold at edge of margin, otherwise very good.

  24. "Denmark" by S. Hall, 1854, $95 , Published by A & C Black, handcolored engraving. 12" x 17" . Detailed map on a nice scale, showing roads, rivers, lakes, towns, cities, and political subdivisions. Also shows parts of Hanover and Mecklenburg. Condition: Agetoned along edges of paper, a few spots, otherwise very good. Scan does not show full margins.

Shows political subdivisions including Holstein, Hamburg, Lauenburg, Lubeck, Sleswick, Jutland, Funen, Zealand, and Laland.   26. "A New Map of Moscovy from the latest observations" by John Senex, $95, 1733, approx. 7" x 8". Shows numerous cities and towns, borders, and topographical detail. Condition: Light agetoning and offsetting, folds as issued, otherwise very good.

  27. "Russia or Moscovy in Europe" Thomas Salmon, $95. Copper engraving, 8" x 10" paper size, 1767. An English map of the entire Eastern European region from the "Frozen Ocean" in the north (bordered by Lapland and Samoieda) to the Black Sea in the south. Lots of detail including cities, rivers, forests, and subdivisions in the Russian part of the map. Lithuania, Prussia, Poland, Sweden,and Turkey are also located. A decorative cartouche is in the lower right. Folds as issued. Age toning, a few spots and stains, light offsetting, otherwise a nice impression of this map.

  28. "Russia in Europe - General Map" 1840, Baldwin & Cradock, $95. "Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge". Engraving with outline color, 13 1/2" x 16 1/2" . A detailed map of the Russian empire in mid nineteenth century showing political subdivisions. Russia extending from the Arctic Ocean to the Black & Caspian Seas. Age toning, a few spots, and short tears in margin, otherwise very good. Note: Scan does not show margins of map.

  32. "Johnsons Russia " by Johnson and Ward, $95, 1864, 14" x 18" (approx). Hand colored engraving with ornate border. Lovely mid 19th Century map of the Russian Empire. Delineates provinces, towns and villages, capitals, roads, canals, and rivers. Extends from the Arctic Ocean to the Black and Caspian Seas. Condition agetoned at edges, otherwise very good.

  33. Western Russia & Poland "Russia --Part III" 1832, Baldwin & Cradock, $95. "Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge". Engraving with outline color, 13 1/2" x 16 1/2" . A great study in 19th Century Eastern Europe. Portrays the regions of Kourland, Vilna, Esthonia, Livonia, St. Petersburg, Pskov, and Vitebsk. Shows the Gulf of Livonia and the the Gulf of Finland. Also marks the boundary between Russia and Poland before the Partition Treaty of 1772. Age toning, a few spots and stains, light offsetting, otherwise very good. Note: Scan does not show margins of map.

  35. "Poland Showing the Claims of Russia, Prussia, & Austria from the best Authorities", by Guthrie, 1795, $125. Paper size is approx. 8" x 10". Annotated at top of map, "The shaded part is the Countries newly annexed to Russia and Prussia agreeable to the Manifesto Published March 25th, 1793". Parts of the unshaded areas are also annotated with numbers that key to claims by Russia, Prussia, and Austria. Condition: Folds as issued, light agetoning and minor foxing, otherwise very good.


  36. "The Former Kingdom of Poland Prior to its Partition Between Russia, Austria, and Prussia", Published by George Phillip & Son, 1856, $95. Hand colored engraving. Paper size is approx. 10" x 13". Shows the region from Pomerania and Silesia to the Russian border and color codes the portions of Poland acquired by Austria, Russia, and Prussia. Also designates the area that would still retain the name "Poland" but notes, "This, however, is merely a province of Russia." Condition: Agetoning in margins, a few spots, otherwise very good.

  37. "A New Map of Germany From the Latest Observations", by John Senex, 1733, $150. Paper size is approx. 7 1/2" x 9". Shows numerous cities, towns, political subdivisions, and topographical details. Condition: Light agetoning and offsetting, folds as issued, otherwise very good.

  38. "Germany From the Best Authorities", by Published by Guthrie, 1795, $150. Annotated " R. Baker, sc. " Engraving. Paper size is approx. 8" x 10". Shows the region from the Baltic and North Sea coast southward to France, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria. Map also annotates the areas of Prussia and Poland. Condition: Folds as issued, light agetoning, otherwise very good.

  39. "Germany", published by S. Morse, 1851, $55 Hand colored engraving. Paper size is 9 1/2" x 12", map is approx. 7 1/2" x 8 1/2" with text below map. Map is from Morse's school geography and gives a very good overview of the mid-nineteenth century German confederation. Text describes the confederation as follows: " ..embraces the greater part of the Kingdom of Prussia: about one-third of the empire of Austria; Holstein and Lauenburg, belonging to the King of Denmark; Luxembourg, belonging to the King of Holland; together with thirty independent states governed by native German Princes; and four free cities." Condition: Some light browning at edges, otherwise very good.

  40. "Germany, North of the Mayn", by Arrowsmith, Published by Cadell & Davies, 1802, $95. Engraving. Paper size is approx. 8 1/2" x 11". In the North, shows the Duchies of Bremen, Lunenburg, Holstein, Mecklenburg, and Magdeburg. Pomerania is annotated "Swedish Pomerania". Map also annotates circles, counties, and bishopricks along with numerous cities, towns, and rivers. Condition: Light agetoning, some handling in margins, a previous owner has left a sepia toned ink annotation in margin at lower right, otherwise very good.

  41. "Lower Saxony", by Published by R. Wilkinson, 1808, $125. Annotated " Froggett, sculpt. " Hand colored engraving. Paper size is approx. 10" x 12". Shows the region from the Baltic and North Sea coast southward to Muhlhausen including the three Duchies; Holstein , Mecklenburg, and Lunenburg. Map also annotates free cities, principalities, counties, and secularized bishopricks along with numerous cities, towns, and rivers. Condition: Light agetoning, some handling in margins, a previous owner has left a sepia toned ink annotation in margin at lower right, otherwise very good.

  42. "Germany III -- Baden, Wurtemberg, Bavaria, Tyrol, and Switzerland" , 1832, J. & C. Walker, $125. appx. 13 1/2" x 16", Outline color. Marked "Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge." A typically very detailed SDUK map of southern Germany. Interesting features include a detailed representations of Baden, Wurtemberg, Bavaria, Tyrol, and Switzerland. Condition: Agetoning, edge of right margin is chipped and a bit ragged , otherwise good. Note: Borders and margins are not shown in scan.

  43. "Germany", Drawn & Engraved by W.H. Lizars, ca. 1845, $150. Hand colored engraving with elaborate scrollwork border. Paper size is approx. 12" X 14 1/2" with the actual map dimensions being approx. 7 3/4" X 9 1/2". A decorative map engraved for Lizars School Atlas which divides the territory of the diverse Duchies and Kingdoms using a color code and reference symbols which are keyed in a table on the right side of the map.   44. "Prussia", Drawn & Engraved by W.H. Lizars, ca. 1845, $150. Hand colored engraving with elaborate scrollwork border. Paper size is approx. 12" X 14 1/2" with the actual map dimensions being approx. 7 3/4" X 9 1/2". A decorative map engraved for Lizars School Atlas which designates East Prussia, West Prussia, South Prussia, Pomerania, Brandenburg, Silesia, and Posen. For a more detailed scan CLICK HERE.   45. "Prussia", Published by George Phillip & Son, 1856, $95. Hand colored engraving. Paper size is approx. 10" x 13". Shows the region including East Prussia, West Prussia, Mecklenburg, Hanover, Brandenburg, Silesia, and Posen. Condition: Agetoning in margins, a few spots, otherwise very good.

  46. "Map of Central Europe Embracing Germany, Holland, Belgium, With Parts of France and Switzerland, Showing the Roads, Canals, and Railways" by W. Hughes, 1854, $125. Size: 17" x 24" (approx). Hand colored engraving. Very detailed map -- especially in Germany. Shows as far north as Prussia and Mecklenburg-Schwerin, but does not quite go as far as the Baltic. Map shows Prussia as far east as Breslau. On the western side of this map the coast of England is shown with the shipping routes from London, Dover, and Brighton to the Continent annotated.   47. Westphalia through Bavaria  "Johnsons Germany No.2 & No. 3" Two maps on one sheet by Johnson and Ward, $125, 1863, 18" x 26" (approx). Hand colored engraving with ornate border. Lovely large scale mid 19th Century map of this region. Delineates provinces, towns and villages, capitals, roads, railroads, and rivers. Germany No 2. includes the Prussian provinces of Wesphalia, Cleves Berg or Rhein provinces, the electorate of Hessen Cassel, and more. Germany No. 3 includes the Kingdom of Bavaria & Wurtemburg, the Grand Duchy of Baden and more. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoned at edges, some soiling in margins, otherwise very good.

  52. "Austrian Empire" Drawn & engraved by John Dower, $85. circa 1840's, 9" x 11", hand colored in outline. Shows as far north as Galicia and Lodomir and as far west as Milan. Divides out the Balkan area into Lyria, Tyria, Dalmatia, Croatia, Sclavonia, Bannat, & Transylvania. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning, a few minor spots, otherwise very good.

A detailed map of this area showing the states of Bohemia, Moravia, Galicia, Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Kingdom of Lombardy, Carinthia, Stiria, Croatia, Sclavonia, Illyria, Dalmatia, Hungary, and Transylvania. Roads, railroad lines, cities and towns are shown. At lower right is a detailed inset of the "Environs of Vienna". Condition: Minor spotting, mottled agetoning.   55. "Eastern Hungary & Galicia" $65 10 1/2" x 15 1/2" paper size, published Circa 1907, outline color. A very nice map of Galicia and northeastern Hungary. Extends as far south as Transylvania. Has great detail, showing towns, rivers, railroads, and major roads. Small smudge in upper margin, but overall very good condition.

  56. "Countries Around the Baltic Sea" and "Switzerland", $45. Circa 1856. 5" x 8". Nice little handcolored maps with a fair amount of detail. Map of Switzerland delineates the cantons. Some age toning and text on back of map.

  57. "Switzerland" Drawn & engraved by John Dower, $85. circa 1840's, 9" x 11", hand colored in outline. Shows political subdivisions and numerous cities, towns, rivers, and lakes. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoning, one short reinforced tear in lower margin (does not extend to image).

  58. "Johnsons Switzerland " by Johnson and Ward, $95, 1862, 14" x 18" (approx). Hand colored engraving with ornate border. Lovely detailed mid 19th Century map of the Switzerland. Condition agetoned at edges, otherwise very good.

  59. "Switzerland" by J.H. Colton, 1855, $125 , Engraving with ornate border. Approx. 15" x 18" . Decorative map on a nice scale with much detail primarily showing railroads, canals, roads, cities, towns, villages, Cantons and their capitals, and old battlefields. Condition: Light overall agetoning, a few spots, otherwise very good. Scan does not show full borders or margins.

  60. "Spain and Portugal" Thomas Salmon, $75. Copper engraving, 8" x 10" paper size, 1767. Lots of detail including cities, rivers, mountains, and subdivisions. A decorative cartouche is in the lower right. Folds as issued. Age toning, a few spots and stains, light offsetting, lower left corner of margin is missing, reinforced tear in lower right margin that extends across the cartouche.

  61. "A New Map of Spain & Portugal From the Latest Observations", by John Senex, 1733, $95. Paper size is approx. 7 1/2" x 9". Shows numerous cities and towns in the area from the "Streights of Gibralter" to the Bay of Biscay and includes the Islands of "Yvica" (modern Ibiza), "Majorca", and "Minorca". Condition: Light agetoning and offsetting, folds as issued, otherwise very good.

  62. "Spain (Espana) II" 1831, Engraved by J.& C. Walker, published by Baldwin & Cradock,, $65. "Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge". Engraving with outline color, 13 1/2" x 16 1/2" . A detailed map of Northern Spain, including Cataluna, Aragon, Soria, Burgos, and other border provinces. Also shows part of Southern France.Condition: Some agetoning, handling, and spotting, old repaired tear at lower center (extends into image approximately 1.5"). Note: Scan does not show margins or borders.

  63. "Spain and Portugal" ,1838, $85. Engraved by J.& C. Walker, published by Baldwin & Cradock, size 13 1/2" x 16", Outline Color, " Published Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge." A great map of Spain & Portugal with tremendous detail of cities, towns, political subdivisions, rivers, mountains and other topography. Also includes the Balearic Islands and the Straits of Gibraltar. Condition: Some agetoning and a few spots and smudges, but overall good. Note: Scan does not show margins or borders.

  64. "Spain  (Espana) III" ,1831, $95. Engraved by J.&C. Walker, published by Baldwin & Cradock, 1831, size 13 1/2" x 16", Outline Color, " Published Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge." A great map of Southern Spain from the Portgugese border on the west, The Strait of Gibraltar on the south, along the coast to Valencia, with tremendous detail of cities, towns, rivers, mountains and other topography. Condition: Some agetoning and brownspotting in margins, one corner chipped and various marginal tears(does not affect image), but overall good. Note: Scan does not show margins or borders.

  68. "L' Espagne et du Portugal, 1873", Grosselin-Delamarche, $45. Hand Colored Engraving, 13" x 19" , Beautifully colored plate from Atlas Grosselin-Delamarche. A very detailed and colorful map of Spain & Portugal. Some age toning at edge of paper (in margin), centerfold as issued, otherwise very good condition. Note: Scanner is causing moire patterns on this map. Actual map image is sharp and very decorative.

  69. "Portugal" , 1808, Published by C. Smith, $175. 12 1/2" x 15 1/2", Hand colored engraving. A very nice map on a large scale. It is uncommon to find a separate map of Portugal and this one is quite detailed. Condition: Some agetoning, several spots along edges of map and in the Atlantic Ocean, otherwise very good.

  70. "Turkey in Europe" , 1808, Published by C. Smith, $145. 12 1/2" x 15 1/2", Hand colored engraving. A very nice map on a large scale dividing this region into Moldavia, Walachia, Bulgaria, Servia, Bosnia, Croatia, Dalmatia, Albania, Rumilia, Greece, and Moria. Condition: Some agetoning, several spots along edges of map, otherwise very good.

  71. Balkan States - "Colton's Turkey in Europe" $85. C.B. Colton,14 1/2" x 17 1/2" paper size, published 1855, full color, with elaborate border. This is a great period map showing the area from the Austrian Empire in the North to the Mediterranean spanning from the Adriatic to the Black Sea. Moldavia, Walachia, Servia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Bumilia are delineated with major cities, rivers, and topographical details shown. There are also insets of the Bosphorus Straits and of Crete. Some age toning, a few repaired marginal tears, and a thumbprint near the title, otherwise good condition.

  72. Austrian Dominions III - Croatia, Sclavonia, and Dalmatia 1832 $85. Engraving with outline color. Published by Baldwin & Cradock, Engraved by J. & C. Walker, "Published Under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge", 13 1/2" x 16 1/2" . An unusual map of a lesser known area at the edge of the Balkans. Shows the Adriatic Coast from Trieste to just south of Dubrovnik ("Ragusa")with much detail of Dalmatia. Along the northern edge of the map is Croatia and Sclavonia. There is also an inset showing the entire extent of the Austrian Empire. Condition: Some agetoning, otherwise very good. Note" Scan crops image slightly and does not show margins.

  73. "A New Map of Turky in Europe From the Latest Observations", by John Senex, 1733, $95. Paper size is approx. 7 1/2" x 9". Shows numerous cities, towns, political subdivisions, and topographical details in the area from the "Euxine or Black Sea" to the "Gulf of Venice" and goes as far north as Hungary and Poland. Condition: Light agetoning and offsetting, folds as issued, otherwise very good.

  74. "Map of Turkey in Europe together with the Ionian Islands" by Charles Desilver, published 1856, $55. 10" x 12" (approx), full color, with elaborate border. This is a nice map showing the area from Hungary to the island of Candia. Moldavia, Walachia, Servia, Bosnia, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, and Rumilia are delineated with major cities, rivers, and topographical details shown. Interesting text on map includes, " The Provinces of Servia, Moldavia, and Wallachia, belong nominally to Turkey in Europe, but are almost independent. They are governed by there own Princes, and have their own laws, but pay a small annual tribute to the Porte and acknowledge its authority." Condition: Some age toning, dampstained across upper left corner of map which has caused some of the color from Bosnia to bleed into Hungary.

  75. Caucasus and Georgia"Russia in Europe - Part IX- and Georgia" 1835, Baldwin & Craddock.....$95 Engraving with outline coloring, appx. 13 1/2" x 16". Marked "under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge." Very interesting. Shows the area between the Black Sea and Caspian Sea including Astrakan, Caucasius, and Georgia Condition: Agetoned at edges, some browning in upper center, left margin cropped close to mileage scales (as issued), otherwise very good. Margins & borders are not shown on scan.
