  1. Huge Map   "Map of the Basin of the St. Lawrence Showing Also the Natural and Artificial Routes Between the Atlantic Ocean and the Interior of North America by Thomas C. Keefer for I. D. Andrews Report to Hon. Thomas Corwin, Secretary of Treasury, 1853", $195 , measures 36 1/2" x 75 1/2". Because of its size and fragility we have not scanned it, but, upon request, we will scan a section of it for you. This map shows Canada from Newfoundland , across the Great Lakes as far west as the border with Minnesota and follows the Mississippi as far south as southern Missouri. Map particularly illustrates the US/Canada border and details all of the waterways reaching into the interior of the US. Condition:Folds as issued with some additional creasing. Some separation and darkening at folds with a small amount of paper loss at a few fold intersections.


  2. Canada - Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Gulf of St. Lawrence ("Isle et Banc de Terre-Neuve, Isle Royale et Isle St. Jean; avec L'Acadie ou Nouvelle Ecosse.") by Bonne.....$175 Copper engraving, ca. 1788. This map details the complex coasts at the eastern extremity of Canada. Newfoundland is shown from Belle Isle to Cape Race, with the map continuing on out into the ocean to show the "Grand Banc de Terre Neuve". The entire Gulf of St. Lawrence is shown with great detail around Nova Scotia (labelled both "Acadie" and "Nouvelle Ecosse"), Prince Edward Island (labelled "Isle St. Jean"), Cape Breton Island (labelled "Isle Royale"), and the St. Lawrence River. The Bay of Fundy is "Baye Francoise", the east coast of New Brunswick is labelled "Machasuzet Baye", and there are lots of other interesting details. Paper size is approx, 11" x17; very good condition; folds as issued.

  3. Montreal & Quebec - "Theatre des Operations de L'Armee de Nord, et Desert que le Genl. Arnold Traversa en Marchant Centre, Quebec", $110 , Published 1812-13 by J. Dentu, Paris . 8" x 10" plate on 9 1/2" x 11" paper. A nicely engraved map showing the area from Albany, New York to Quebec, including Montreal and Lake Champlain. This map has the track of Gen. Arnold on his march to attack Quebec in 1775. Folds as issued, trimmed to neatline at bottom left corner as issued, - otherwise excellent condition.

  4. 1853 Eastern Canada:   "Map of the Eastern Portion of British North America Including the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and Part of the New England States, Compiled from the Latest Surveys and Charts by Henry F. Perley for the Report of Israel Andrews to Hon. Thomas Corwin, Secretary of Treasury, 1853", $195 , measures 27" x 47". Because of its size and fragility we have not scanned it, but, upon request, we will scan a section of it for you. This ia a highly detailed map showing Newfoundland, Labrador, The Gulf of St. Lawrence, Nova Scotia, Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick, with part of Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.The Gulf of St Lawrence takes up a large part of the map and gives a very nice representation of Prince Edward Island, Anticosti, Magdalen, Sable Island, and the surrounding area. The map also follows the St. Lawrence River to Quebec and back to Lake St. John. Condition:Folds as issued with some additional creasing. Some separation at folds with a small amount of paper loss at a few fold intersections, one tear at right edge, Paper is overall clean with no stains or foxing.

  5. 1848 "Map of the Eastern and Middle States &c. and also the British Provinces", $150 engraved to accompany Appletons' Hand Book of American Travel". Hand colored engraving. Paper size is approx. 12" x 16". This is a great period example of a practical travel map of the mid 19th Century. All major highways, railroad routes, and water routes, and the towns that they passed through are shown. This map includes all of the Eastern states from Maine to Maryland and adjoining parts of Ohio and Virginia. It also shows Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the area north of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario (which is divided into "Canada East" and Canada West"). There are also two very interesting insets. One is titled "Falls Of Niagara" and is a wonderfully detailed map showing the streets of Niagara Falls, NY, annotations on the various rapids and falls, railroad connections on both the US and Canadian sides, and a note about the suspension bridge below the Falls. The other inset is titled "Land and Water Routes from Cleveland to Detroit & Chicago" and is centered on Michigan with parts of the adjoining states and coast of the adjoining Great Lakes. Lower margin annotated "Drawn & Engd W. Williams, Phila." Good condition though there is some age toning along edges, folds as issued with slight paper loss and browning along one section of fold running through Maryland.

  6. "Canada, New Brunswick &c" by S. Hall; $95 published by A. & C. Black; 1854. Size: 12.25" x 17.25". Detailed map of Upper and Lower Canada extending as far west as Lake Huron, showing Quebec, New Brunswick with an inset of Nova Scotia. The inset of Nova Scotia shows Halifax, C. Breton Island. ; Prince Edward Island. The map is broken down into counties and notes Indian tribes. This map also shows Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, parts of New York with the path of the Erie Canal annotated, and northern Ohio as far west as Cleveland. Condition: Age toning & some foxing & black specks in margin; several light spots and one dark spot in map image. NOTE: Due to scanner limitations borders and margins may not show in the image.

  7. "New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Id." by J.H. Colton; 1855. $95 Hand colored engraving Size: 12" x 15" (approx). Detailed map of the area from the eastern end of Newfoundland to the Bay of Fundy and through the Gulf of St.Lawrence with main roads, counties, and towns annotated. Also includes the Island of Anticosti and the St Lawrence River as far as Point Nicolas. Condition: Agetoned, some offsetting from adjacent text, paper brittle, and edges of margin chipped (does not affect image). NOTE: Due to scanner limitations borders and margins may not show in the image.

  8. "New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Id." by J.H. Colton, 1855, $125 , Hand Colored engraving with ornate border. Approx. 15" x 18" . Similiar to map above, but much more decorative map of the area from the eastern end of Newfoundland to the Bay of Fundy and through the Gulf of St.Lawrence with main roads, counties, and towns annotated. Also includes the Island of Anticosti and the St Lawrence River as far as Point Nicolas.Condition: Light overall agetoning, a few spots, otherwise very good. Scan does not show full borders or margins.


  9. "Canada East or Lower Canada and New Brunswick" by J.H. Colton, 1855, $125 , Hand Colored engraving with ornate border. Approx. 15" x 18" . Decorative map with much detail primarily showing the area around the Bay of Fundy, Gulf of St. Lawrence, and St. Lawrence River. Shows railroads, canals, roads, cities, towns, villages, and political subdivisions. At bottom center is an inset of "Vicinity of Montreal." Condition: Light overall agetoning, a few spots, otherwise very good. Scan does not show full borders or margins.

  10. "Arctic Regions and British America" by J. Bartholomew, $225 , Published by A & C Black, 1854, handcolored engraving. 17" x 24" . A wonderful detailed, large scale, period map of this region. Alaska is designated as "Russian Territory", Canada is "British Territory" with subdivisions indicated and with some detail of the explorations for the Northwest passage between Baffin Bay and the Arctic Ocean. The track of the Phoenix (from Baffin Bay to Melville Strait) and the track of the Investigator from Cape Lisburne to Melville Strait via the Prince of Wales Strait are annotated. CLICK HERE for a detail of the area from Baffin Bay to Melville Strait. Also included is an inset of "Beechey Island, Site of Sir. J. Franklin's Winter Quarters 1845-46" and an inset titled "Chart of the Territories Discovered & Examined by the Searching Expeditions under the Command of Cap. Austin and Cap. Penny, 1851" showing more detail of the area from Barrow Strait to Melville Island. Condition: Centerfold as issued, agetoned along edges of paper (not near image), a few spots, break at fold in lower margin slightly extending into image, a few short tears in lower margin. Scan does not show full margins.
